Motorway training

Motorway driving can now be offered as part of the normal training for pupils as they get close to test. Fully qualified instructors are now permitted to take a pupil nearing test standard onto motorways using a dual control car only.

Please note motorway training cannot be offered to pupils who train in their own car, and no one except a fully qualified ADI is ever permitted to take a learner on to motorways.

This training is voluntary, not obligatory, and many pupils do not wish to take up this opportunity before passing their test. Shiredrive instructors will never take pupils onto the motorway until they are considered ready, nor will we ever force a pupil to take this step against their wishes.

However, many drivers who have passed test, have never received any motorway training and Shiredrive will be pleased to provide appropriate tuition in these cases.
