Thinking Of Changing Your Career?

Training Programme

Training for Part 1

The ADI Part 1 course consists of five seminars, each lasting 2 hours.

The seminars are normally conducted on a one to one, or two to one basis, and give ample opportunity for discussion and participation.

The course objective is to provide you with the necessary theoretical knowledge to give a solid framework for your new career as a driving instructor, and to enable you to pass the ADI Part 1 examination. The five seminars introduce you to the following subjects:

  1. Seminar 1 - Introduction, car control and road procedure
  2. Seminar 2 - The Highway Code
  3. Seminar 3 - Mechanical knowledge
  4. Seminar 4 - Licences, theory test, driving test and disabilities
  5. Seminar 5 - Starting a business and teaching techniques

Training for Part 2

Instruction for the ADI Part 2 examination is normally given one to one, in car.

The number of hours required depends on your experience and current standard of driving. The course objective is to build on your driving experience, and to develop your skills and attitude, to enable you to drive with a high degree of safety and confidence, leading to success in the ADI Part 2 examination.

The training concentrates on developing skills in four main areas:

  1. Anticipation
  2. Awareness
  3. Accuracy
  4. Assertiveness

Training for Part 3

Instruction for the ADI Part 3 examination is normally given one to one, in car, although from time to time a fellow trainee may sit in the back, so that you can learn from one another.

The course objective is to impart the techniques required to teach pupils to drive, safely and competently, in today's demanding traffic conditions, so that the pupil develops life skills, habits and attitudes, and to enable you to demonstrate those teaching skills in the ADI Part 3 examination.

The training concentrates on developing skills in three main areas:

  1. Teaching techniques
  2. Lesson structure
  3. Fault identification and correction
